Relaxed days in a hot summer
Dutch influencer Bouke and his creator team @roadpacker relocated a Movacar campervan from Madrid across Spain and France. In this interview they share their experiences and the highlights of the trip.
Renting a campervan the regular way can get expensive fast. With a Movacar relocation, you travel one way in a vehicle that the rental company needs to move from A to B anyway — and you only pay a small amount for it. RoadPacker tried exactly that: on their relocation tour in a campervan from Indie Campers, they took 10 days to drive from Madrid to Paris.

How did booking with Movacar go?

From booking to return, everything was straightforward and easy to understand. The platform made it quick to find a suitable route, and communication was clear throughout.
What was the campervan itself like?
Bouke
We were very happy with the campervan. It was comfortable, clean and reliable, and it was a perfect fit for our trip. It let us create content in some incredible places. Two small things we noticed on the downside: there were two camping chairs on board, but we were travelling as a group of four. And the bedding was enough for one bed, so we had to arrange bedding for the second one ourselves. Neither of these spoiled our experience. We only mention them because they might be helpful to know.
Once the rental company has confirmed your booking, it's best to get in touch directly and check what equipment is on board. That way you'll know in advance whether you need to plan for chairs, bedding or similar yourself.
What was your route, and what highlights did you take away from it?

We travelled from Madrid through northern Spain before crossing into France and finishing near Paris. One of the biggest highlights was undoubtedly the coastline of Asturias. The combination of dramatic cliffs, quiet beaches, mountain roads and picturesque villages made it one of the most beautiful regions we've ever driven through. We also loved the freedom of being able to change plans along the way, discovering places we would never have visited otherwise. That's exactly what makes a camper relocation so special: you have a destination, but everything in between becomes part of the adventure.
What did you like most about Movacar's terms?

What we appreciated most were the affordable extras, especially the option of unlimited mileage. That gave us much more freedom on the road, without constantly watching the odometer.
How satisfied were you with the vehicle pickup and return?
Bouke
The station in Madrid was a little hard to find at first, because there was no signage on the building. Once we were inside, though, everything was friendly and professional. The return was then just as smooth as the pickup, quick and well organised.

Overall, our experience with Movacar exceeded our expectations. The relocation concept is an incredible way to make campervan travel affordable and accessible while still giving you the freedom to discover amazing places at your own pace. We'd happily do another relocation trip in the future.
